Job Description
Job Title: Senior Lead Developer Role Summary Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex backend systems that integrate insurance portals, dental practice management software, and AI/LLM services. Expectations - Blend deep technical hands‑on work with team leadership to deliver high‑impact solutions. - Directly influence product strategy in close collaboration with founders. - Scale the engineering organization by hiring and onboarding new developers. - Navigate ambiguous, data‑intensive environments and drive rapid, iterative releases. Key Responsibilities - Build and maintain robust APIs for insurance verification and practice‑management integrations. - Design data extraction/transformation pipelines to normalize highly inconsistent clinical data. - Own backend architecture, session management, and event handling across distributed services. - Integrate LLMs, NLP, STT/TTs for conversational AI and voice receptionist features. - Create fallback mechanisms to route patient interactions to human staff when necessary. - Develop event‑driven workflows coordinating multiple automation chains. - Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., PIPEDA) for 24/7 AI services. - Conduct code reviews, set coding standards, and mentor 1–2 developers. - Participate in hiring, onboarding, and team growth initiatives. - Report progress, risks, and technical strategy to executive leadership. Required Skills - 6+ years of backend development experience (APIs, data pipelines, third‑party integrations). - Proven track record integrating messy, legacy systems and scaling event‑driven architectures. - 2+ years in a leadership/mentoring role. - Proficiency in Python, Azure services, and modern LLM integrations. - Experience with speech‑to‑text, text‑to‑speech, and NLP tailored to domain terminology. - Familiarity with building reliable systems around unreliable external dependencies. - Strong problem‑solving under ambiguity and a “figure it out” mindset. - Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., PIPEDA, HIPAA) is a plus. - Startup or fast‑paced product experience preferred. - Healthcare or regulated industry background is advantageous. Required Education & Certifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (equivalent experience accepted). - Relevant cloud or AI certifications are a plus but not mandatory.
