**Job Title**
Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)
**Role Summary**
Provide temporary part‑time nursing care on the 4th‑floor surgical unit of an acute‑care hospital. The unit manages a mix of medical and surgical patients including orthopedics, general surgery, ophthalmology, women’s health, and urology. Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, wound and catheter care, and support during procedures, all within a 12‑hour day and night shift schedule under CUPE agreements.
**Expactations**
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and valid CPR certification.
- Completion of the current RPN medication course.
- Certification or willingness to be certified in tracheostomy suctioning, continuous bladder maintenance, catheter irrigation, and simple dressings.
- Ability to work 12‑hour day and night shifts, Monday–Sunday, with flexible scheduling.
- Demonstrated communication, teamwork, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Physical capability to meet job demands and compliance with College QA standards.
- Successful EPIC electronic health record testing (training provided if necessary).
**Key Responsibilities**
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and monitor clinical status.
- Administer medications and treatments per protocols and physician orders.
- Perform wound care, tracheostomy suctioning, bladder maintenance, catheter irrigation, and simple dressing changes.
- Assist nursing staff and physicians during procedures and surgeries.
- Document all patient care, observations, and interventions accurately in EPIC.
- Participate in shift handovers, interdisciplinary team meetings, and plan of care discussions.
- Apply infection prevention and control practices and maintain a safe environment.
- Adhere to hospital policies, quality assurance standards, and the Code of Conduct.

**Required Education & Certifications**
- Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
