Job Description

**Job Title:** Java Software Engineer **Role Summary:** Develop and maintain cloud‑based backend services for a climate‑tech platform that processes operational, sensor, and geospatial data. Write production‑grade Java code, design RESTful APIs, and contribute to reliable platform releases while gaining exposure to cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and distributed systems. **Expectations:** - Deliver well‑tested Java features and API endpoints on schedule. - Apply best practices for code quality, system design, and security. - Participate in CI/CD pipelines and support production issue investigations. - Continuously improve technical skills and progress toward senior engineering responsibilities. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design, implement, and maintain Java microservices and REST APIs. - Integrate with SQL databases and external data sources (sensor, geospatial). - Write unit, integration, and automated tests; ensure high test coverage. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams using version control (Git) and CI/CD tools. - Contribute to platform release cycles and monitor production performance. - Assist in troubleshooting and resolving live system issues. **Required Skills:** - 3+ years commercial Java development experience. - Strong experience building RESTful APIs. - Proficient with SQL databases (querying, schema design). - Working knowledge of cloud environments (Azure preferred). - Familiarity with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks. - Good communication and teamwork abilities. - Desirable: interest in data‑heavy, geospatial or analytics systems; exposure to containers/microservices; enthusiasm for sustainability/climate tech. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). - No specific certifications required; cloud or Java certifications are a plus but not mandatory.
