**Job Title:** Cobol EDI Developer
**Role Summary:** Program and maintain mainframe EDI applications, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. Lead design, coding, documentation, unit testing, and deployment within a healthcare environment.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver high‑quality COBOL code on time with robust test coverage.
- Maintain clear technical documentation and adhere to change‑management protocols.
- Communicate status, risks, and solutions effectively to stakeholders.
- Support production incidents and perform root‑cause analysis.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design, develop, test, and debug COBOL modules and associated JCL scripts.
- Create detailed specifications, test cases, and maintain application documentation.
- Participate in release management, environment provisioning, and performance testing.
- Integrate with MFT platforms (GoAnywhere, Sterling, Axway, MoveIT) and perform FTP/SSH/SSL operations.
- Implement PGP encryption and HIPAA X12 EDI standards (834, 837, 277, 270, 276, 999).
- Collaborate with CICS, DB2, and Linux teams on integrated workflows.
- Support incident management, problem resolution, and knowledge base updates.
**Required Skills:**
- 3–5 years of COBOL development in a mainframe environment.
- Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and Linux C programming.
- Experience with MFT flows, FTP/SSH, and PGP encryption.
- Strong understanding of EDI (HIPAA X12) transaction sets.
- Ability to write effective unit tests and maintain documentation.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
- No additional certifications required, but experience in healthcare IT is mandatory.
