**Job Title:** Regional Communications Manager **Role Summary:** Lead and shape the Liberal Democrats’ regional media strategy, overseeing a team of regional media officers. Deliver proactive coverage of MPs and peers across broadcast, print, online, and social platforms, ensuring consistent messaging and crisis readiness. **Expectations:** - Manage a diverse team across the UK, providing mentorship and performance direction. - Produce compelling regional stories that elevate parliamentary work in local media. - Collaborate with national, Scottish, and Welsh communications teams to maintain unified campaigning messages. **Key Responsibilities:** - Develop and execute the party’s regional communications strategy to maximise media outreach. - Mentor and lead regional media officers. - Coordinate key campaign messaging with council leaders and devolved communication teams. - Support MPs and peers in generating coverage from parliamentary and constituency activities. - Handle crisis communications, delivering timely, accurate responses. - Plan communications for visits, events, photo opportunities, and media engagements, including leadership appearances. - Brief, prepare, and train MPs and peers for media appearances. **Required Skills:** - Proven experience in media, journalism, or digital communications within a political or public policy context. - Strong news judgment, ability to craft persuasive narratives for diverse audiences. - Excellent organisational and project‑management capabilities. - Demonstrated leadership and people‑management experience. - Crisis communication expertise and rapid response skills. - Cross‑functional collaboration across national and regional teams. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered). - No specific certifications mandatory, but relevant media or PR qualifications are an advantage.
