Job Title: System Engineer
Role Summary: Lead the design, integration, and validation of railway systems (signalling, train control, traction power, communications, SCADA) to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards across Canada.
Expactations: Deliver end‑to‑end systems engineering over the full project lifecycle, manage requirements, interfaces, and documentation, support safety certification, and coordinate between multidisciplinary teams and regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop system requirements, specifications, and architecture for railway projects.
- Conduct system‑level analyses (performance, reliability, maintainability, safety).
- Manage interfaces between subsystems and suppliers for seamless integration.
- Prepare and maintain documentation (ICDs, V&V plans, test procedures).
- Participate in design reviews, hazard analyses, and safety assurance activities.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks in collaboration with project managers.
- Ensure compliance with Transport Canada, CSA, ISO/IEC, CENELEC EN 50126/50128/50129, and AREMA standards.
- Serve as the technical liaison to clients, suppliers, and cross‑functional teams.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, or Software Engineering (Master’s an asset).
- 9–15 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in railway, transportation, or heavy infrastructure.
- Proven experience in systems engineering processes (requirements management, integration, testing, V&V).
- Knowledge of railway systems such as CBTC, PTC, ETCS, or conventional signalling.
- Familiarity with Model‑Based Systems Engineering tools (DOORS, Enterprise Architect, MATLAB/Simulink) preferred.
- Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in a Canadian province or territory.
