Job Description
Job title: System Administrator Role Summary: Lead design, deployment, and maintenance of high‑availability IT systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability across Windows, Linux, and cloud (AWS) environments while providing tiered IT support and incident resolution. Expactations: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and based in Quebec; possess 5+ years of systems engineering experience with a strong network support focus; bilingual in English and French; able to lift up to 30 kg and respond to occasional evening or weekend duties. Key Responsibilities: • Design, deploy, and manage complex IT infrastructures for mission‑critical applications, ensuring high availability and performance. • Maintain and optimize cloud solutions (primarily AWS) to improve scalability and security. • Continuously monitor system performance, network traffic, and security logs; initiate corrective actions. • Develop and implement infrastructure optimizations for reliability, performance, and scalability across servers, networking, and storage. • Engineer automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python) to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. • Act as primary point of contact for escalated IT incidents; diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly. • Implement change management processes to guarantee controlled, smooth deployments of updates and modifications. • Securely manage a range of devices (desktops, laptops, mobile) using MDM solutions. • Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans to safeguard data integrity and availability. • Manage projects using tools such as Atlassian Jira, ensuring on‑time delivery. • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate IT solutions into business processes and improve overall productivity. • Maintain comprehensive system documentation and provide training to IT staff for knowledge transfer and operational continuity. Required Skills: • 5+ years in IT systems engineering and operations with a focus on network support. • Proficiency in Windows 11, Windows Server, and Linux administration. • Strong network security and management skills (Juniper, Sophos, firewall, VPN). • Deep knowledge of DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and other core network technologies. • Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V) and storage technologies (NAS, SAN, iSCSI). • Advanced scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python). • Familiarity with AWS cloud services and related security practices. • MDM experience for device management. • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously. • Bilingual English and French with strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Capability to lift up to 30 kg and work occasional evenings or weekends. Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience). • Relevant certifications preferred: CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, AWS Certified Solutions Architect (or similar).
