Job Title: Technical & Compliance Engineer
Role Summary:
Own and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and regulatory compliance of technical documentation for fire, smoke, and security-rated door systems. Manage CAD drawings, product specifications, controlled documents, certification evidence, and support new product development with compliance guidance.
Expectations:
- Maintain 100% accuracy of all controlled technical documents.
- Keep certification and testing evidence fully current and valid.
- Communicate regulatory updates promptly and implement required changes.
- Deliver documentation for new product development within schedule.
- Complete internal compliance audits and drive corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, update, and maintain CAD drawings and product specifications.
- Own controlled document management: version control, release governance, change tracking.
- Compile and manage certification, approvals, and testing evidence (EN, BS, UKCA, CE).
- Coordinate with testing labs and certification bodies for renewals and queries.
- Monitor emerging regulations and standards; disseminate updates internally.
- Provide compliance guidance and documentation support for new product development (test plans, evidence strategy, certification pathways).
- Conduct 2–3 internal audits yearly, identify non‑conformities, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain robust audit trails and strict change control across all technical documents.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, supply chain, QA, and senior technical staff on FOA requirements, installation conditions, and test evidence.
Required Skills:
- Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/BEng or equivalent).
- Proficient in CAD (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Experience with fire doors, passive fire protection, or safety‑critical manufacturing.
- Knowledge of fire, smoke, and security testing standards.
- Proven technical writing and document control experience.
- Strong ownership, attention to detail, process‑driven, analytical mindset.
- Clear, confident communication and cross‑functional collaboration.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Minimum engineering qualification (HNC/HND/BEng or equivalent).
- Familiarity with EN, BS, UKCA, CE standards for fire door systems.
- Experience preparing FOA documentation and working with certification bodies preferred.
