AWS Cloud & Backend Engineer
**Role Summary**
Design, build, and operate a serverless AWS backend for an AI‑powered mobility assessment platform. Develop scalable GraphQL APIs, automate infrastructure with Terraform, integrate LLM services, monitor production systems, and collaborate cross‑functionally with UI, AI, and product teams.
**Expectations**
- Full‑time contract engineer skilled in AWS serverless architecture.
- Deliver reliable, secure backend solutions that support real‑time assessments and AI features.
- Own end‑to‑end development cycle: design, code, test, deploy, and maintain.
- Communicate effectively with UI, AI, and product stakeholders to align technical direction.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Architect and implement backend services using Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, DynamoDB, AppSync, and Cognito.
- Build and maintain GraphQL APIs powering iPad and future mobile applications.
- Develop infrastructure‑as‑code with Terraform for scalable, reproducible environments.
- Integrate large language model APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Bedrock) and manage AI pipelines.
- Ensure high availability, monitor performance, troubleshoot incidents, and run production support.
- Collaborate with front‑end developers to deliver seamless user experiences.
- Partner with product and design teams to guide feature development and technical decisions.
- Enforce security, compliance, and best data‑handling practices for user and assessment data.
**Required Skills**
- 3–5+ years of professional backend development experience.
- Deep knowledge of AWS serverless services (Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, API Gateway, IAM, Cognito).
- Proficient in building GraphQL and REST APIs.
- Experience with Terraform or comparable IaC tools.
- Familiarity with LLM/AI service integration (OpenAI, Bedrock, etc.).
- Strong grasp of distributed systems, event‑driven design, CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent debugging, performance tuning, and production support abilities.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Developer – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, or Terraform Associate are advantageous.
