**Job title**
Manager – Messaging, Collaboration & Desktop Technologies
**Role Summary**
Lead the strategic planning, design, deployment, and ongoing management of enterprise messaging, voice, collaboration, and virtual desktop technology. Drive modernization of cloud‑ and hybrid‑device management, strengthen security, and ensure a reliable, secure, productivity‑enhancing tool stack for end users.
**Expectations**
- Direct a high‑performance engineering and support team to deliver service levels aligned with organisational objectives.
- Own budgeting and cost‑optimization for the technology portfolio.
- Champion emerging solutions (AI, cloud, advanced collaboration) and maintain governance, security, and compliance.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and developmental culture among staff and stakeholders.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Develop and maintain a long‑term strategy for messaging, voice, collaboration, and virtual desktop infrastructure that aligns with organisational goals.
2. Design and enforce architecture frameworks, technical standards, and governance policies for the full end‑to‑end technology stack.
3. Lead project teams to research, evaluate, and implement new tools and services; produce business cases, product selection documents, and implementation plans.
4. Oversee cloud and hybrid device‑management frameworks, including patch management, software updates, and automated provisioning.
5. Ensure enterprise security posture is integrated into all technology decisions; collaborate with security teams to audit, monitor, and remediate risk.
6. Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and source qualified contractors and staff.
7. Administer the departmental budget: forecast, monitor variances, and take corrective actions.
8. Provide coaching, performance management, and professional development to team members.
9. Communicate status, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership and business partners.

- Messaging & voice platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Cisco, etc.)
- Collaboration tools (Microsoft 365, Slack, SharePoint)
- Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI, Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop)
- Cloud & hybrid device‑management (Intune, Jamf, SCCM)
- Security & compliance (Zero Trust, MFA, data‑loss prevention)
- Project management (Agile, Waterfall, PMBOK/PRINCE2)
- Budgeting and financial oversight
- Vendor negotiation and contract management
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and change‑management skills
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or similar).
- Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator Expert.
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent cybersecurity credential is preferred.
