Job Title
Robotics / Computer Vision Engineer
Job Description
**Job title:** Robotics / Computer Vision Engineer **Role Summary:** Design, develop, and deploy perception systems that convert raw sensor data into precise, sub‑millimeter geometry for industrial robotic applications. Work closely with hardware, calibration, and downstream planning, learning, and control teams to deliver robust perception stacks for deployment in manufacturing environments. **Expectations:** - Own end‑to‑end perception pipeline design and implementation. - Translate raw sensor streams into geometry that supports collision‑free motion planning. - Integrate perception outputs into digital twins, ML pipelines, and robotic control systems. **Key Responsibilities:** - Assess and integrate depth sensors (stereo, RGB‑D, ToF, structured light, laser profiling) under varying mounting and environmental constraints. - Develop intrinsic/extrinsic calibration routines, build tooling for drift detection, and validate frame accuracy. - Perform RGB‑D, point‑cloud, and CAD alignment using feature extraction, RANSAC, ICP, and robust outlier handling. - Implement logging, replay, health‑check, and failure‑detection mechanisms for reliable operation. - Collaborate with robotics, simulation, and ML teams to ensure perception data meets downstream requirements. **Required Skills:** - ≥3 years shipping production computer‑vision or 3‑D perception systems in robotics, inspection or metrology contexts. - Proficiency with depth sensing technologies and an understanding of their real‑world trade‑offs. - Strong geometry fundamentals: coordinate frames, transforms, quaternions, error propagation. - Expertise in registration techniques (feature‑based, ICP, outlier rejection) and calibration tooling. - Solid programming experience (C++, Python) in a collaborative, version‑controlled environment. - Ability to troubleshoot complex real‑world scenarios (reflective surfaces, lighting change, occlusion, noise). - Clear communicator, methodical tester, and effective team player. **Nice‑to‑have:** - Experience in harsh industrial settings (welding, heavy manufacturing). - Familiarity with ROS2/MoveIt and robot integration workflows. - Knowledge of edge GPU deployment (TensorRT, CUDA) and reliability monitoring. - Exposure to simulation (Isaac Sim) or synthetic data generation. - Interest in reinforcement learning pipelines. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field. - Optional certifications in robotics, vision, or industrial system design are a plus.
