Prospere Learning Trust was formed in September 2017 through the merger of two multi academy trusts. We currently employ over 1000 staff and are passionate about providing exceptional education for children from any background so that they become happy, confident adults with excellent academic knowledge and qualifications. We believe that our staff play a vital role in achieving our vision. Great schools thrive because of the great people in them. The Trust currently comprises of 8 schools, including 4 mainstream high schools and 4 special needs schools (both primary and secondary). Job Description
Job title: Teaching Assistant Level 1 (SEN) Role Summary: Support pupils aged 11–19 with significant additional needs in a vocational special school setting, assisting with instruction, supervision, and individual learning plans to promote academic progress, wellbeing, and transition to employment or further education. Expectations: - Work 35 hours per week during term time, plus five INSET days. - Operate under teacher and senior leadership supervision, maintaining professional standards and continuous improvement. - Communicate clearly with pupils, staff, parents, and external agencies. Key Responsibilities: - Deliver individual and small‑group teaching support in line with Individual Learning Plans. - Supervise pupils during teacher absence (short periods). - Record pupil progress, provide feedback, and maintain accurate records. - Ensure equal access to learning for all pupils. - Participate in ongoing training and professional development. - Demonstrate commitment to safeguarding policies and welfare of pupils. Required Skills: - Understanding of the Teaching Assistant role and child development. - Strong literacy and numeracy at Level 2 or above. - Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. - Tactful, diplomatic communication and relationship‑building skills. - Clear, confident spoken English. - Experience or keen interest in working with children or young people with complex or significant learning needs, including those with communication difficulties, severe, profound, or complex learning needs. Required Education & Certifications: - Qualified to Level 2 or above in literacy and numeracy. - No additional formal degree required; relevant teaching assistant qualifications preferred. ---
