Lead Backend Engineer

Job Description

Job title: Lead Backend Engineer Role Summary: Architect, develop, and maintain high‑performance backend services for a high‑traffic DeFi platform using Node.js/Bun.js and TypeScript. Lead technical direction, collaborate cross‑functionally, and ensure scalable, reliable APIs and database layers for real‑time market data and user analytics. Expectations: • Deliver production‑ready code and infrastructure for millions of on‑chain trades • Own system design, latency, and scalability from conception to deployment • Mentor and guide a lean engineering team in best practices and code quality • Drive continuous improvement of API performance and data pipelines. Key Responsibilities: • Design, implement, and optimize REST/GraphQL APIs written in TypeScript on Node.js/Bun.js • Build and tune Postgres schemas and Opensearch indexes for real‑time trading data • Ensure data consistency, reliability, and low latency under concurrent load • Work with Product and Design to translate requirements into robust backend solutions • Perform code reviews, enforce coding standards, and lead architectural discussions • Troubleshoot production incidents, provide root‑cause analysis, and implement mitigations • Continuous integration, automated testing, and deployment pipelines; maintain observability and monitoring. Required Skills: • 5+ years backend engineering experience • Proficiency with Node.js/Bun.js and TypeScript • Proven experience building scalable APIs & high‑traffic backend systems • Strong knowledge of Postgres, relational modeling, and query optimization • Familiarity with blockchain data systems and on‑chain data ingestion • Experience with Opensearch or similar search‑analytics engines • Design‑thinking mindset, strong problem‑solving skills, and communication proficiency.
