Job Description
Job title: Operational Due Diligence Analyst (Internship/Junior Position) Role Summary: Assist in the operational due diligence process for asset management companies and investment funds, providing analytical support to investment decisions in a Fund of Funds environment. Expectations: Deliver thorough, data‑driven operational reviews and concise reports that inform investment committees. Develop deep knowledge of global asset‑management operations, risk frameworks, and technology platforms. Build relationships with senior operating officers, and contribute to investment decision meetings. Key Responsibilities: • Analyze management company structures, legal agreements, and governance frameworks across Europe, the US, and Asia. • Assess financial statements, team hierarchies, and potential conflicts of interest. • Evaluate operational infrastructure, trade lifecycle processes, middle‑ and back‑office functions, and reporting workflows. • Review trading systems, risk management, compliance tools, technology platforms, cybersecurity policies, and data‑management practices. • Examine fund structures, legal terms, governance, valuation policies, and third‑party service provider roles. • Conduct conference calls, video meetings, and on‑site visits with COOs, CFOs, and CCOs to test controls and assess culture. • Synthesize findings into detailed operational due diligence reports highlighting risks, strengths, and recommendations. • Present reports to internal investment committees and support client‑facing presentations when required. Required Skills: • Strong analytical and quantitative skills. • Proficiency in financial statement analysis and operational risk assessment. • Knowledge of asset‑management operational structures and regulatory environment. • Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing and presentation. • Ability to ask probing questions and challenge assumptions. • Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to meet tight deadlines. • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with data‑analysis tools is a plus. Required Education & Certifications: • Current master’s level student completing a mandatory internship, in a Business School with a focus on Finance or Asset Management, or in a university economics program. • Demonstrated interest in investment operations and risk management. • No specific certifications required, but knowledge of investment industry standards (e.g., CFA-level IFRS, ISO 27001 basics) is advantageous.
