Job Description
**Job Title:** Analyst, Defence Deep Tech Fund **Role Summary:** Provides analytical and operational support for investment decisions within BDC Capital’s Defence Deep Tech Venture Fund. Responsibilities include sourcing and evaluating early‑stage deep‑tech investment opportunities, conducting financial and technical due diligence, monitoring portfolio performance, and building relationships with government, industry, and ecosystem partners. **Expectations:** - Deliver high‑quality deal assessments and portfolio insights that inform investment strategy. - Maintain a disciplined process of market scouting, due diligence, and portfolio monitoring. - Collaborate cross‑functionally with government, accelerators, incubators, and investors. - Communicate findings clearly to senior investment leadership and co‑investors. **Key Responsibilities:** - Source potential investments by analyzing partner fund portfolios and tracking industry trends. - Conduct market research, identify emerging sectors (e.g., quantum, AI, photonics, autonomy, electronics, materials). - Lead due diligence: financial modeling, valuation, competitive analysis, management assessment, and technical evaluation with external experts. - Prepare and organize diligence artefacts—interview guides, meeting schedules, reference calls. - Monitor ongoing portfolio companies: performance metrics, milestones, exits, and non‑dilutive funding opportunities. - Draft investment memos, update stakeholders and LPs, and support fundraising communications. - Build and maintain relationships with key ecosystem stakeholders including accelerators, incubators, and federal agencies. **Required Skills:** - Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities. - Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and valuation techniques. - Ability to assess technological maturity and translate technical documentation into investment insights. - Excellent written and verbal communication; experience presenting to investment committees. - Project management skills to coordinate multi‑party due diligence activities. - Comfort working collaboratively in a cross‑functional team environment. - Knowledge of defence and dual‑use technology or willingness to learn rapidly. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred). - Professional certifications such as CFA, CAIA, or equivalent are advantageous but not mandatory. ---
