Job Description
**Job Title** Senior Platform Engineer **Role Summary** Lead the design, deployment, and operation of hybrid cloud/on‑prem platform services supporting defence‑grade systems. Deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions while driving automation, observability, and reliability practices across the organisation. **Expectations** - Achieve and maintain high availability and performance of critical workloads. - Rapidly improve deployment pipelines and operational tooling to increase delivery velocity and consistency. - Provide expert engineering guidance and mentorship across cross‑functional teams. - Maintain full compliance with defence security and regulatory standards prior to and during engagement. **Key Responsibilities** - Design, build, and maintain platform services on AWS, Azure or GCP within hybrid environments. - Develop and optimise IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) and automation (Ansible, scripting) for provisioning and configuration. - Implement CI/CD pipelines (GitOps, ArgoCD, Jenkins, etc.) to enable fast, repeatable releases. - Enhance observability with tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.) and establish proactive monitoring and alerting. - Collaborate with reliability and incident‑response teams to investigate incidents, drive post‑mortem analysis, and apply remediation. - Contribute to architectural governance, technical reviews, and security risk assessments. - Evaluate emerging technologies (service mesh, serverless, etc.) for platform resilience and capability improvement. - Conduct knowledge sharing and training sessions to uplift engineering standards and skills. **Required Skills** - 5+ years in platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure development. - Proven experience with Kubernetes cluster design, management, and operation. - Deep knowledge of IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi, etc.) and automation frameworks. - Strong CI/CD pipeline design and implementation skills. - Expertise in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP). - Solid understanding of security best practices, compliance frameworks, and working in regulated, air‑gapped environments. - Experience with incident management and complex operational support models. - Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration abilities. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Cloud or DevOps certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate). - Security clearance: SC Level required. ---
