Job Description
**Job title** Student Web Accessibility Auditor & Remediator **Role Summary** Part‑time auditor responsible for ensuring faculty course websites and related documents (PDF, LaTeX, images) comply with WCAG 2.1 AA standards. Conducts systematic audits, performs low‑ and high‑level remediation, and collaborates with faculty and IT staff to deliver accessible educational resources by the mandated deadline. **Expectations** * Work 20–29 hours per week on an alternate schedule. * Meet project timelines for audit and remediation deliverables. * Maintain clear, professional communication with stakeholders. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Audit web pages, PDFs, LaTeX files, videos, and technical drawings for WCAG 2.1 AA compliance. 2. Remediate identified accessibility gaps using appropriate tools and techniques. 3. Address complex, domain‑specific content—mathematical symbols, equations, technical schematics, and nonstandard notations. 4. Document audit findings and remediation steps in concise reports. 5. Coordinate with faculty, WSU Online, and IT staff to implement fixes and verify compliance. 6. Track multiple projects, deadlines, and corrective actions in a self‑managed workflow. 7. Apply knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript to improve page accessibility. 8. Provide guidance and best‑practice recommendations for future content creation. **Required Skills** * Basic understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines. * Proficiency in HTML and core web remediation techniques. * Ability to remediate documents (PDF, LaTeX, images). * Experience handling complex technical content (equations, diagrams, drawing). * Strong customer‑service and communication skills. * Self‑management, organization, and deadline‑tracking ability. **Preferred Skills** * Domain expertise in math, physical science, life science, mechanical or electrical engineering, or computer science. * WCAG training or certification. * Advanced HTML/CSS, responsive web design, and basic JavaScript. * Familiarity with specialized accessibility tools and software. * Experience with content management systems (site‑manager proficiency a plus). **Required Education & Certifications** * Associate’s degree (AS) or equivalent experience in IT, Web Design, or related field. * (Optional) Relevant accessibility, WCAG, or web development certifications.
