Job Description
Job title: Privacy Specialist Role Summary: Provide strategic and operational privacy advisory services for a public‑sector client, focusing on health information, digital solutions, and privacy governance. Support development, assessment, and implementation of privacy frameworks, data access strategies, and regulatory compliance. Expectations: Deliver privacy guidance that aligns with public policy, industry standards, and legislative mandates; ensure risk‑based solutions are integrated into program design and execution; maintain stakeholder engagement, project plans, and communication deliverables. Key Responsibilities - Develop, advise on, and conduct risk assessments across project phases. - Lead current‑state assessments, stakeholder engagement, and data‑access strategy planning. - Provide expert advice on privacy policies, standards, and guidelines. - Interpret and apply Ontario legislation (FIPPA, PHIPA) and other agreements. - Assess policies, frameworks, and data models to identify gaps and opportunities. - Conduct privacy risk analyses and develop mitigation strategies. - Maintain integrated project plans, status updates, and risk registers. - Coordinate cross‑functional initiatives and ensure privacy alignment. - Prepare briefing notes, reports, and presentations for executives and program teams. - Translate complex privacy concepts for non‑privacy audiences. - Provide continuous privacy counsel and documentation throughout project life cycles. Required Skills - Proven experience in privacy advisory/consulting, preferably in public sector or health contexts. - Deep knowledge of Ontario privacy legislation (PHIPA, FIPPA) and related agreements. - Skilled in conducting Privacy Impact Assessments and privacy risk analyses. - Understanding of health system data, digital health solutions, and public‑sector data sharing. - Ability to map business processes, data flows, and design future‑state models. - Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and consultation skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation to executive audiences. - Organizational and project management proficiency, with capability to juggle multiple priorities. Required Education & Certifications - Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Law, Public Administration, Health Informatics, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Professional privacy certifications (e.g., Privacy Officer Certificate (POC), Certified Information Privacy Professional – Canada (CIPP/C), or similar) preferred.
