Job Description
**Job title:** Test Technician (Rail) **Role Summary:** Execute detailed testing and commissioning activities on rolling‑stock vehicles, maintaining strict adherence to safety and technical standards. **Expectations:** - Deliver precise test results within project timelines. - Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of tests and safety procedures. - Collaborate effectively with engineering and maintenance teams. - Uphold all safety protocols and quality standards. **Key Responsibilities:** - Conduct functional, performance, and safety tests on railway vehicles. - Operate and calibrate test instruments and recording equipment. - Analyze test data, identify faults, and recommend corrective actions. - Prepare test reports, logs, and safety documentation. - Assist in the commissioning of new and refurbished rolling stock. - Coordinate with team members to resolve technical issues. - Maintain a safe work environment and enforce safety procedures. **Required Skills:** - Proficiency with test equipment and instrumentation. - Knowledge of railway systems (signalling, propulsion, HVAC, etc.). - Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities. - Attention to detail and accuracy in data recording. - Effective communication and documentation skills. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively. - Familiarity with safety standards and procedures. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Relevant apprenticeship or equivalent in mechanical, electrical, or railway engineering. - Technical qualification such as NVQ Level 3/4, BTEC or similar for electrical/electronic/mechanical engineering. - Certification in safety procedures (e.g., ATEX, ISO 13849) or equivalent. - Background clearance for safety‑critical work.
