Job Description

**Job Title:** Staff Scientist/Engineering Intern (Summer 2026) **Role Summary:** Support climate resilience projects through data analysis, geospatial tool development, and collaboration on adaptive strategies for environmental and infrastructure planning. **Expectations:** - Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program in environmental science, earth science, engineering, or related field. - At least 2 years of completed coursework preferred. - Familiarity with geospatial data analysis and Python. **Key Responsibilities:** - Analyze environmental/climate/infrastructure data for vulnerability assessments and adaptation planning. - Process datasets using Python, ArcPy, and ArcGIS Pro; automate workflows and build geospatial tools. - Develop ArcGIS Online web maps, dashboards, and StoryMaps for clients/public outreach. - Prepare technical reports, data summaries, graphics, and presentations for diverse audiences. - Support climate adaptation strategy development using climate projections and resilience metrics. - Assist project managers with research, data analysis, technical writing, and deliverables. - Facilitate stakeholder engagement by translating technical data into actionable insights. **Required Skills:** - Proficiency in Python (ArcPy) and ArcGIS Pro for data processing/workflow automation. - Basic skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). - Scientific writing and communication abilities for technical/non-technical audiences. - Problem-solving, attention to detail, and task management under multiple priorities. - Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for project support. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, earth science, engineering, or related discipline. - At least 2 years of coursework completed by start date. - No specific certifications required.
