Job Title: Regional Privacy Officer – Americas
Role Summary:
Oversee and enforce a comprehensive data privacy and protection program across the Americas, acting as the primary contact and subject‑matter expert for all privacy, AI, and cybersecurity matters within the region. Collaborate with global leadership to align regional practices with international standards and local regulations.
Expectations:
‑ Maintain an acceptable privacy risk posture while enabling business objectives.
‑ Develop, communicate, and evolve privacy policies, procedures, and training.
‑ Lead incident response, breach reporting, and consumer rights handling.
‑ Provide strategic counsel on data governance, contractual safeguards, and compliance documentation.
‑ Monitor regulatory developments and advise on timely adjustments to the program.
Key Responsibilities:
* Partner with business units to embed a privacy‑centric culture and manage personal data processing and transfers.
* Co‑create, maintain, and evolve the global privacy framework; draft policy updates and report privacy risks to senior leadership.
* Offer expertise on AI, cyber‑security, and regional privacy laws; advise on impact assessments, transfer mechanisms, and compliance records.
* Design and deliver training, communications, and awareness materials for employees and stakeholders.
* Lead investigation of data and security incidents; manage breach notification and reporting.
* Create and maintain documentation: ROPA, data flows, DPIAs, transfer agreements, and consent records.
* Ensure local transparency notices, opt‑out mechanisms, and data collection practices meet legal requirements.
* Respond to data subject requests, privacy inquiries, and complaints; provide audit trails and evidence.
* Draft and negotiate data‑processing clauses; support commercial negotiations.
* Conduct horizon scanning of regulatory changes; provide analysis and recommendations.
Required Skills:
* Deep knowledge of privacy, AI, and cybersecurity laws and standards in the Americas.
* Experience with privacy management platforms (e.g., OneTrust, ServiceNow).
* Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate across functions and geographies.
* Excellent written and verbal communication; can translate complex legal concepts into clear guidance.
* Proactive, accountable, and ethical decision‑maker in sensitive data contexts.
* Strong stakeholder‑management and influence skills.
Required Education & Certifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, Business, or related field.
* Minimum 4 years of regional privacy officer experience in a multinational environment.
* IAPP or equivalent privacy certification preferred.
