Job Description
Job title: Telecommunications Technician – Telephony (VoIP / PBX) Role Summary: Responsible for the deployment, configuration, commissioning and support of enterprise VoIP and PBX systems, providing high‑performance voice services to customers. Works on-site and remotely, participates in scheduled on‑call rotation, and supports sales and commissioning activities. Expectations: * Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in VoIP / PBX environments. * Strong analytical, troubleshooting and customer‑service skills. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within tight deadlines. * Willingness to travel for on‑site installations and support. * Commitment to maintaining certifications and ongoing technical training. Key Responsibilities: 1. Deploy, configure, commission, and maintain customer telephony solutions (VoIP / PBX). 2. Configure and support enterprise PBX systems, handling moves, adds, changes and troubleshooting. 3. Conduct functional testing, service validation, and follow‑up with customers. 4. Provide day‑to‑day technical support (remote and on‑site). 5. Participate in structured on‑call rotation and respond to emergency support calls. 6. Perform on‑site installations and maintenance, including network/telephony cabling. 7. Support sales team with technical queries and solution discussions. 8. Assist during commissioning and cutovers as required. 9. Deliver user training for specific projects when necessary. 10. Maintain required certifications and complete assigned training. Required Skills: * Experience with Alcatel‑Lucent Enterprise OmniPCX Enterprise or equivalent PBX platforms, with willingness to obtain certification. * In‑depth knowledge of SIP, IP telephony concepts and public telephony connectivity (PRI, analog/1FL, SIP trunking). * Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, QoS basics. * Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. * Excellent written and verbal communication in English; French functional language skills considered a plus. * Professional customer‑facing communication and presentation skills. Required Education & Certifications: * Diploma in Telecommunications Technology or equivalent training/experience. * Valid driver's license and work permit. * Certifications related to VoIP/PBX (e.g., OmniPCX Enterprise) preferred; willingness to pursue required certifications.
