Job Description
Job title: Banking / Financial Services Product Counsel Role Summary: Provide comprehensive legal support for a global financial services platform and data services business. Advise on product launches, international expansion, regulatory compliance, and transactional matters across multiple jurisdictions, collaborating closely with product, risk, compliance, and regional legal stakeholders. Expectations: Deliver accurate, timely legal counsel to enable the launch and operation of technology‑enabled banking products. Coordinate multi‑jurisdictional matters and external counsel. Monitor and interpret relevant legal and regulatory developments to mitigate risk and ensure compliance. Key Responsibilities: - Draft, review, and negotiate product and service agreements, including APIs, data tools, and commercial contracts. - Advise on new product launches and international expansion strategies, ensuring legal feasibility and regulatory compliance. - Support non‑standard commercial and banking‑related negotiations. - Coordinate multi‑jurisdictional legal matters and liaise with external counsel. - Track and analyze developments in banking, financial services, and data protection law, providing actionable guidance. Required Skills: - Strong knowledge of corporate banking, financial services products, and technology‑enabled product frameworks. - Proven experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements. - Ability to navigate multi‑jurisdictional regulatory environments, with familiarity in UK/EU regulatory matters. - Basic understanding of data protection and privacy legislation. - Excellent stakeholder management and cross‑functional collaboration skills. Required Education & Certifications: - Qualified lawyer (qualified or equivalent). - Minimum 5+ years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in corporate banking, financial services, or commercial law. - In‑house legal experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
