**Job Title**
Mainframe COBOL Developer
**Role Summary**
Develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL for a financial and wealth‑management environment. Collaborate with front‑end teams to integrate legacy systems with modern UI technologies, ensure data integrity across RDBMS platforms, and deliver reliable, high‑performance solutions throughout a 12‑month contract.
**Expectations**
- Minimum 10 years of hands‑on experience in backend development, primarily on mainframe systems.
- Ability to work on‑site (WFO) for the full contract duration.
- Proven track record delivering robust, production‑grade code in regulated financial domains.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with UI/Web developers and database specialists.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design, code, test, and debug COBOL programs on mainframe environments.
- Perform code reviews, maintain coding standards, and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Integrate COBOL back‑end services with front‑end applications built in React, Angular, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries for RDBMS (DB2, Oracle, etc.) supporting application data needs.
- Troubleshoot production issues, provide timely fixes, and document resolutions.
- Produce technical documentation, specifications, and support knowledge transfer.
- Participate in sprint planning, estimations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
**Required Skills**
- Mainframe COBOL development (10+ years).
- Backend expertise with RDBMS (SQL, DB2, Oracle).
- Front‑end/web technologies: React JS, Angular, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3.
- Understanding of financial/wealth‑management processes and data security requirements.
- Version control (e.g., Git, CVS) and CI/CD concepts.
- Problem‑solving, analytical mindset, and attention to detail.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Preferred: IBM Certified Application Developer – COBOL or comparable mainframe certification.
