Job Description
Job Title: Supply Student Support Person Role Summary: Provide brief, temporary support to students with physical, cognitive, or learning challenges in a school setting, ensuring safety, adherence to individualized plans, and smooth classroom operations. Expectations: Serve as a dependable, flexible resource who upholds school policies, collaborates with educators, respects confidentiality, and maintains a positive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: - Support students with daily activities and mobility, including assistance with positioning, personal hygiene, and classroom transitions. - Follow and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans. - Assist teachers with lesson delivery, adapting materials, and facilitating student participation. - Administer medication and health interventions when authorized, following protocols. - Monitor student behavior, record observations, and report concerns to relevant staff. - Maintain accurate and confidential student records. - Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development as required. - Ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations, reporting incidents promptly. Required Skills: - In-depth knowledge of special needs education practices and general care procedures. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Strong interpersonal abilities, empathy, patience, and teamwork orientation. - Ability to remain calm, flexible, and adapt to changing student or classroom needs. - Problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. - Capability to follow directions accurately and maintain confidentiality. Required Education & Certifications: - Diploma or Degree in a related field (e.g., Developmental and School-Based Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Social Service Work, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Assistant, Religious & Life Sciences). - Valid Vulnerable Sector Screening certificate (required prior to employment).
