Job Title: Automation Engineer
Role Summary
Design, implement, and maintain continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and self‑service platforms for U.S. Military DoD programs. Ensure observability, security, and compliance with DoD architecture and open‑systems standards across AWS cloud services and SaaS products. Provide senior‑level technical guidance, documentation, and DevSecOps support.
Expectations
- Minimum 5 years of experience on DoD projects.
- U.S. citizenship with an active DoD SECRET clearance; Top Secret preferred.
- Live in or near Fairfax, VA and able to commute.
- Hold CompTIA Security+ CE; AWS Solutions Architect Pro and/or AWS DevOps Engineer Pro.
- Proven ability to design, test, validate, and monitor complex DoD platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and manage CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Maven, Bamboo, GitLab CI, etc.).
- Build and maintain scalable, self‑service DevOps platforms on AWS (CloudFormation, CDK, SAM, Terraform).
- Integrate IaC and CI/CD pipelines with AWS services (Lambda, ECS, EKS, S3, CloudWatch, etc.).
- Implement security controls: threat modeling, risk assessment, STIG compliance, and continuous monitoring.
- Produce design documents, technical white papers, and operation manuals.
- Collaborate with program managers, SRE, and security engineers to align technical direction with schedules and objectives.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging tools and processes to improve platform efficiency and security.
- Provide DevSecOps mentorship and guidance to leadership and cross‑functional teams.
Required Skills
- AWS cloud architecture and services (EC2, S3, Lambda, EKS, ECS).
- CI/CD tooling: Jenkins, Maven, Bamboo, GitLab CI; pipeline scripting.
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, SAM.
- Containerization and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
- Scripting: Bash, Python.
- Security practices: STIGs, risk assessment, threat modeling, secure coding per DoD guidelines.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and independent decision‑making abilities.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
Required Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- U.S. citizenship with an active DoD SECRET clearance (Top Secret preferred).
- CompTIA Security+ CE (or equivalent).
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional or AWS DevOps Engineer Professional certification.
