Category Manager – Electrical Substation Components
**Role Summary**
Lead sourcing and procurement for high‑voltage substation equipment in large EPC projects, delivering cost, quality, and schedule targets. Manage supplier qualification, negotiations, and performance while collaborating with engineering and project teams.
**Expectations**
- 5+ years category management in substation or utility infrastructure.
- Expertise on transformers, switchgear, breakers, busbars, capacitors, grounding, protection/control, SCADA, digital substation tech.
- Proven supplier negotiation and contract execution for high‑value projects.
- Experience with JD Edwards, Salesforce, Coupa, and advanced Excel analytics.
- Bachelor’s in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related field; APICS, CSPM, or equivalent preferred.
- Up to 20% travel to sites and vendor locations.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Own and execute category strategy aligned with project demand and sustainability goals.
- Lead supplier negotiations, onboarding, and performance management.
- Forecast demand, optimize inventory, and support S&OP alignment.
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, and project teams to ensure on‑time, on‑budget material delivery.
- Conduct market intelligence and spend analysis to drive cost reduction and value creation.
- Monitor risk, promote innovation, and maintain supplier relationships.
- Utilize JD Edwards, Salesforce, and Coupa for sourcing, onboarding, and planning.
- Travel to job sites and vendor locations as required.
**Required Skills**
- Category management, strategic sourcing, supplier negotiation.
- Deep knowledge of substation components and power‑distribution materials.
- ERP and procurement system proficiency (JD Edwards, Salesforce, Coupa).
- Advanced Excel, data analysis, and spend modeling.
- Strong communication, cross‑functional collaboration, and stakeholder management.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- Preferred certifications: APICS (CPIM/CSCP), CSPM, or equivalent.
