**Job Title**
Network Security Specialist – L1
**Role Summary**
Provide L1 support for enterprise network and firewall operations, including deployment, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Collaborate with IT Operations, Development, and business stakeholders to maintain secure, reliable network infrastructure across data centers and offices.
**Expectations**
- 1–3 years experience as a Network/Firewall administrator.
- Strong knowledge of firewall policy and ACL configuration.
- Ability to self‑manage work, meet deadlines, and operate in a formal IT service management environment.
- Willingness to respond to after‑hours or weekend incidents.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Deploy and configure network and firewall equipment for data centers and office sites.
- Perform hardware and software upgrades on network/firewall devices.
- Monitor network performance, VPN access, and firewall health; prioritize and resolve tickets.
- Create and maintain documentation (runbooks, MoP, user guides).
- Support monitoring dashboards and critical alert handling.
- Participate in strategic planning, infrastructure enhancement selection, installation, and support.
- Collaborate with Operations and Development teams to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
- Engage in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
**Required Skills**
- Configuration and management of firewalls (Aruba, Juniper, Fortinet, ClearPass, Aruba Wireless).
- Network protocols: TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, FTP, ARP, ICMP, MPLS, BGP, EVPN, VXLAN.
- Troubleshooting complex network and firewall problems; documentation of procedures.
- Scripting/automation for network appliances.
- Experience with OpenStack, OpenShift, Zabbix, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins or similar tools.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and independent work capability.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
- ITSM/ITIL, Sigma, SIAM, Agile, Scrum, or DevOps certification considered a definite asset.
- Other relevant network/security certifications (e.g., CCNA/CCNP, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Aruba) are a plus.
