**Job Title**
Staff Machine Learning Developer – User Understanding
**Role Summary**
Design, develop, and maintain large‑scale user‑behavior models that drive ad ranking, conversion‑rate (CVR) prediction, and recommendation systems. Oversee model quality, monitor performance, calibrate predictions, and mitigate data drift. Collaborate cross‑functionally to define long‑term vision, lead development efforts, and translate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
**Expectations**
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years leading end‑to‑end ad‑delivery and optimization systems at scale.
- 3+ years focused on content understanding, behavioral modeling, user profiling, and cohort analysis.
- Proven experience in production‑grade ML with high‑throughput pipelines.
- Strong programmatic expertise in Python, Go, Scala, C++ or comparable languages.
- Solid background in metric design, experimentation methodologies, and large‑scale data analysis.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Architect and implement behavior‑understanding models for users across multiple applications.
- Continuously monitor model performance, calibrate predictions, and handle data‑drift or delayed‑feedback challenges.
- Lead design reviews, project planning, and execution for new feature development.
- Engage with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to align on objectives and communicate model implications.
- Mentor junior team members and disseminate best practices in ML engineering.
- Contribute to the definition and evolution of the team’s long‑term technical strategy.
**Required Skills**
- Advanced knowledge of machine learning frameworks and scalable production pipelines.
- Proficiency in Python and at least one additional system‑level language (Go, Scala, C++).
- Expertise in metric design, controlled experimentation (A/B testing) and causal inference.
- Experience with large‑scale data processing (Spark, Flink, or equivalent).
- Strong analytical and statistical skills, including cohort analysis and feature engineering.
- Ability to debug complex production issues and optimize for latency and throughput.
- Excellent written and verbal communication for cross‑functional collaboration.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
