**Job Title**
Platform Engineer (Kubernetes Container Platform Engineer)
**Role Summary**
Design, implement, and operate enterprise‑wide container platforms (PaaS & CaaS) on public cloud infrastructure. Enable self‑service automation, CI/CD integration, and observability for a developer community of 20,000+. Provide tier‑1 support, troubleshoot platform issues, and contribute to documentation and knowledge base.
**Expectations**
- US Green Card holder or US citizen.
- On‑site work 5 days/week (Alpharetta, GA or Omaha, NE).
- 12‑month contract‑to‑hire arrangement.
- Participate in on‑call rotation and agile team processes.
- Complete all pre‑screening questions; incomplete submissions will not be considered.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Build and maintain container services platforms (e.g., Tanzu Application Service, PKS/TKGI, OpenShift).
- Integrate platforms with CI/CD pipelines and related tooling.
- Automate provisioning, upgrades, and lifecycle management using IaC.
- Diagnose, resolve, and escalate technical issues reported by internal customers.
- Produce and review knowledge‑base articles and product documentation.
- Collaborate with security teams on identity, access, and certificate management.
- Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions (e.g., Splunk, Fluentd, Prometheus/Grafana, Wavefront, AppDynamics).
- Contribute to platform standardization and global service offerings.
**Required Skills**
- Programming/scripting: Go (preferred), Python.
- Infrastructure as Code: API design, Swagger/OpenAPI.
- Container orchestration: Kubernetes deployment on at least one public IaaS (AWS, Azure, GCP, Alibaba).
- Experience with PaaS/CaaS products: Tanzu Application Service, Tanzu Kubernetes Grid, Red Hat OpenShift.
- Systems administration: UNIX/Linux and Windows.
- Configuration management/automation tools: Concourse, Salt, Fabric, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy.
- Version control: Git, GitHub/GitLab.
- Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting, DNS, routing.
- Virtualization: VMware vSphere (v7) and NSX/NSX‑T (plus).
- Observability stack: Splunk, Fluentd/Fluentbit, Prometheus/Grafana/Alertmanager, Wavefront, AppDynamics.
- Policy engines: Open Policy Agent (OPA) or equivalents.
- .NET Core/.NET Framework exposure.
- Strong communication and collaborative skills; agile methodology experience; on‑call support experience.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field **plus** ≥5 years relevant experience **or** advanced degree **plus** ≥4 years experience.
- Minimum 2 years building and maintaining container platforms (TAS, PKS/TKGI, OpenShift).
- Certifications are not mandatory but relevant cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) or Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD) are advantageous.
