Job Description

**Job Title** Legal Counsel – Group (FR/NL) (M/F/X) **Role Summary** Provide strategic in‑house legal support to the Group’s subsidiaries across Northern Europe, acting as a trusted business partner to operational leaders while ensuring legal compliance, risk management, and contractual integrity. **Expectations** - Deliver pragmatic, risk‑aware legal advice to management and operational teams. - Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts in collaboration with subsidiary directors. - Anticipate and mitigate legal risks, ensuring compliance with GDPR, ESG, and other regulatory requirements. - Manage legal documentation and reporting to the Group Legal Department. - Coordinate external counsel and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of evolving regulations. **Key Responsibilities** - Provide legal counsel on business law matters affecting day‑to‑day operations. - Draft, negotiate, and finalize contracts, agreements, and legal documents. - Maintain and update contract repositories and legal files. - Monitor regulatory changes (GDPR, ESG, industry‑specific rules) and assess impact. - Deliver training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal topics. - Liaise with external law firms and report legal risks and activities to Group Legal. **Required Skills** - In‑house legal experience (≥7 years) in an industrial, multicultural setting. - Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills. - Deep understanding of Belgian contract law and business law. - Familiarity with EU regulations, GDPR, and ESG compliance. - Excellent communication, diplomatic, and proactive problem‑solving abilities. - Self‑directed, autonomous work style while building cross‑functional relationships. **Required Education & Certifications** - Master’s degree in Business Law or equivalent. - Fluency in French and English; Dutch is a strong asset. - Knowledge of Belgian law required; familiarity with Dutch and German legislation beneficial.
