Job Description
Job title: Nursery Team Leader Role Summary: Lead a room‑based early years team, ensuring delivery of high‑quality, EYFS‑compliant care and education, maintaining Ofsted standards, safeguarding, and fostering a supportive, collaborative environment. Expectations: Manage shift rotas, maintain consistent attendance, uphold child safety and welfare, support staff development, and contribute to continuous improvement of the nursery’s care quality. Key Responsibilities: - Supervise and support a team of early years professionals, assigning duties and monitoring performance. - Plan, implement, and evaluate EYFS‑aligned curriculum activities that promote learning through play. - Observe, assess, and record children’s progress; prepare reports for parents and internal use. - Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed; conduct risk assessments and incident reporting. - Facilitate staff training, team meetings, and professional development sessions. - Maintain accurate attendance, staffing, and resource records; manage rota schedules. - Communicate regularly with parents, responding to queries and providing updates on children’s development. - Uphold health and safety regulations, cleaning protocols, and emergency procedures. Required Skills: - Proven leadership and team‑management capabilities in an early years setting. - In‑depth knowledge of EYFS curriculum, assessment, and planning. - Strong safeguarding awareness, with a proactive approach to child protection. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for staff, parents, and external stakeholders. - Effective organisational, time‑management, and problem‑solving abilities. - Ability to mentor and develop staff, fostering a positive workplace culture. Required Education & Certifications: - DfE‑approved early years qualification (Level 3 or higher). - Minimum of two years of experience in an early years environment. - Current DBS (or Enhanced DBS) check. - Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available).
