Job Description

**Job Title** Backend Java Developer **Role Summary** Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance backend services in Java (17/21) that power data access control, policy enforcement, and query processing for global‑scale data platforms. **Expectations** - Deliver robust, production‑ready code on schedule. - Maintain clear API contracts and CI/CD pipelines. - Ensure observability, reliability, and performance of services. - Collaborate cross‑functionally on architectural direction. **Key Responsibilities** - Build core backend services in Java with Spring, focusing on access control and query manipulation. - Implement deterministic policy/rule engines for data governance. - Develop SQL parsing, planning, validation, and transformation layers (e.g., using Calcite). - Integrate services with distributed data platforms and query engines (e.g., Starburst). - Own API contracts with living documentation integrated into CI/CD. - Create production‑grade, testable pipelines using JUnit 5 and Mockito. - Drive observability, reliability, and performance tuning. - Contribute to architectural decisions around modularity, DI, and extensibility. **Required Skills** - Hands‑on Java 17/21 with Spring framework. - Deep knowledge of JDBC, SQL parsing, validation, and query optimization. - Experience with SQL planners or query transformation layers. - Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and backend performance. - Proficiency in unit testing (JUnit 5), mocking (Mockito). - Familiarity with clean architecture, dependency injection, and modular design. - Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Maven, and Jenkins. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
