Job title: Backend Java Developer – Data Fabric / Platform Engineering Role Summary: Design, implement, and maintain core backend services that govern data access, entitlements, and query policy enforcement for a distributed Data Fabric platform. Expectations: - Deliver production‑grade, testable code that meets performance and reliability targets. - Own API contracts, documentation, and CI/CD pipelines. - Ensure observability, code quality, and continuous improvement of system architecture. Key Responsibilities: - Build Java (17/21) services for access control and query manipulation. - Implement deterministic policy/rule engines for data governance. - Work with SQL parsing, planning, validation, and transformation (e.g., Calcite). - Integrate with distributed data platforms/query engines (Starburst, etc.). - Own API contracts with living documentation in CI/CD. - Construct testable pipelines and automate testing (JUnit 5, Mockito). - Contribute to architecture decisions (modularity, DI, extensibility). - Drive performance tuning, observability, and reliability of high‑throughput services.
