Job Description
**Job title** Activities Assistant – Licensed Areas (Part‑Time Plus) **Role Summary** Provide individualized and group recreational activities for residents in licensed care areas, supporting their psychosocial well‑being. Work under the Activities Coordinator to plan, implement, and evaluate programs, ensuring safety, engagement, and responsive care. **Expectations** - 30–35 hours per week (32 hours minimum), including weekday and weekend coverage in rotating schedule. - Adhere to established policies, emergency procedures, and documentation standards. - Maintain professional demeanor with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams. **Key Responsibilities** - Assist with program setup, execution, and breakdown; cover other areas as assigned. - Conduct individual, in‑room, and small‑group activities for residents unable or unwilling to leave rooms. - Facilitate transportation to and from activities, ensuring safe use of assistive mobility devices. - Observe and document resident participation, mood, and any health changes; report concerns to nursing and interdisciplinary teams. - Promote group outings, assist with event communication, and support family or team meetings as needed. - Manage activity materials and supplies; maintain a safe activity environment. - Provide emergency response when required and assist in safety protocols. **Required Skills** - Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite. - Knowledge of psychosocial needs of adults with dementia and related care resources. - Ability to tailor activities to individual resident capabilities and preferences. - Strong communication and collaboration skills with residents, families, and staff. - Physical stamina to assist residents, including lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. - Judgment and responsiveness in emergency situations. **Required Education & Certifications** - High school diploma or GED (required). - Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred). - Activity Professional Certified (APC) credential (preferred). - Activity Director Certified (ADC) or Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist credential (preferred). - Valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver’s License (required). - Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger Vehicle endorsement (preferred).
