About the Company

The Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) is one of the two authorities, along with the National Bank of Belgium (NBB), entrusted with the supervision of the Belgian financial sector.

As a supervisory authority, the FSMA strives to ensure the honest and equitable treatment of financial consumers. It aims at the fair and orderly operation and the transparency of the financial markets by ensuring that listed companies provide correct and complete information. It promotes proper provision of financial services by verifying that financial institutions comply with rules of conduct, by supervising financial products, financial service providers and supplementary pensions, and by contributing to improving the education of financial consumers. In this way the FSMA seeks to ensure that the financial system deserves the trust of its users.

The FSMA has six principal tasks:

Job Description
Job title: System Infrastructure Engineer Role Summary: Works within a small IT infrastructure team to collaborate with an external service provider and internal stakeholders in designing, implementing, and managing secure, high‑availability infrastructure across networking, security, databases, storage, servers, cloud (Azure), desktops, and mobile devices. Acts as a bridge between service desk layers and the operating environment, continuously improving processes and documentation. Expatations: - Deliver reliable infrastructure solutions that meet business and non‑functional requirements. - Manage incident handling, security events, and technical support efficiently. - Participate in reporting, documentation, and knowledge transfer to first‑ and third‑level teams. - Communicate effectively in Dutch, French, and English; draft clear technical documentation. - Maintain a proactive security and continuous improvement mindset. Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with the service provider to design and set up new secure infrastructure components. - Co‑responsible for application‑level infrastructure across network, security, database, storage, servers, cloud, workstations, and mobile devices. - Resolve day‑to‑day infrastructure issues and coordinate with cross‑functional teams. - Investigate and follow up on security incidents and audit findings. - Produce configuration, troubleshooting, and best‑practice documentation. - Engage in regular and ad‑hoc management reporting. - Support knowledge exchange with service desk, PC desk, and broader IT/BI teams. Required Skills: - Expertise or solid experience in Windows/Linux server, network, storage, and database administration. - Understanding of firewall, WAF, anti‑DDoS, web proxy, SQL Server, Azure, and mobile device management. - Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting abilities. - Excellent communication in Dutch, French, and English; technical writing in English. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively; stress resilience and positive attitude. - Documentation skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and SharePoint. Required Education & Certifications: - Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent. - Professional experience in a similar IT infrastructure role. - Experience managing small teams (preferred). - Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Security+) are an asset but not mandatory.
