Job title: New Product Development Manager
Role Summary:
Lead end‑to‑end new product development for a premium beauty brand, driving concept ideation, formulation, packaging, regulatory compliance, supplier sourcing, and launch across retail, e‑commerce, and international markets. Deliver products on time, within budget, and meeting margin targets while maintaining quality and brand standards.
Expactations:
- Deliver multiple successful product launches annually that meet market demand and profitability goals.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with cross‑functional teams and global suppliers.
- Ensure all products comply with UK/EU regulatory requirements and technical specifications.
- Provide accurate cost models and achieve predefined margin targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify product opportunities through consumer trend analysis and competitive benchmarking.
- Own the NPD process: concept, design, formulation, packaging, testing, production readiness, and go‑to‑market.
- Manage project timelines, critical paths, and budgets; resolve risks and issues.
- Build cost models, work with finance to monitor margins, and adjust plans accordingly.
- Oversee regulatory compliance, product testing, technical documentation, and claim validation.
- Source, onboard, negotiate, and manage suppliers and manufacturers, especially in Asia.
- Define product specifications, quality assurance, defect resolution, and performance monitoring.
- Coordinate launch activities: sample management, internal approvals, and sales/marketing hand‑off.
- Produce stage‑gate reviews, status reports, and pipeline performance dashboards.
Required Skills:
- 4+ years product development in beauty, personal care, or cosmetics.
- Strong formulation, packaging, and regulatory knowledge.
- Proven supplier and manufacturer management, including international sourcing.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, cost modelling, and data analysis.
- Cross‑functional collaboration with marketing, sales, supply chain, and finance.
- Understanding of UK/EU product requirements and market dynamics.
- Additional European language proficiency is an advantage.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Certified Cosmetic Professional) preferred.
