**Job Title**
Linux Administrator
**Role Summary**
Design, implement, and maintain enterprise‑wide Linux server environments. Drive security hardening, patch management, performance optimization, and proactive monitoring. Lead technical support and knowledge transfer to junior staff and cross‑functional teams.
**Expectations**
- 5+ years of enterprise Linux administration.
- Proven ability to design, test, and troubleshoot complex Linux systems.

**Key Responsibilities**
1. Deploy and manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux, HP‑UX, and CentOS servers.
2. Implement security controls: audits, patching, hardening, vulnerability remediation, and penetration‑test response.
3. Optimize server performance, reliability, and scalability to meet business demands.
4. Monitor systems, analyze alerts, and pre‑emptively resolve issues.
5. Manage container orchestration platforms (Red Hat OpenShift) and associated tooling.
6. Configure and maintain virtualization environments (VMware).
7. Use IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform) and scripting (Bash, Python) for automation.
8. Document system configurations, procedures, and best practices.
9. Mentor junior administrators and support other departments’ infrastructure needs.
10. Coordinate with DevOps teams and vendor partnerships.
**Required Skills**
- Advanced experience with RHEL, Oracle Linux, HP‑UX, CentOS.
- Proficiency in Red Hat OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes orchestration.
- Scripting: Bash, Python.
- Infrastructure automation: Ansible, Terraform.
- Version control: CVS, SVN.
- Cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, GCP.
- VMware virtualization.
- CUPS (Common Unix Printing System) administration.
- Security: vulnerability management, audit tools, penetration‑testing responses.
- DevOps practices and tooling.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Post‑secondary degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, RHCSA, Red Hat Certified Engineer; Red Hat OpenShift Administrator) preferred.
