Job Description
**Job title** Senior Chef **Role Summary** Provide culinary operations for a secondary school catering service, ensuring high‑quality, nutritious meals are delivered consistently within a structured timetable. Enhance student learning and well‑being through safe, well‑executed food service. **Expectations** - Maintain high standards of hygiene and workspace organization. - Manage workload independently while meeting delivery deadlines. - Communicate effectively with staff, students and management. - Demonstrate passion for food, attention to detail, and commitment to healthful nutrition. - Adhere to food safety and health & safety regulations. - Flexibility to work overtime when required. **Key Responsibilities** - Lead kitchen operations during term‑time hours (7:00 am‑3:00 pm, Monday‑Friday). - Prepare and cook a diverse menu that meets dietary and nutritional standards for a school environment. - Plan food production schedules and colour‑by‑colour inventory management. - Ensure compliance with hygiene regulations, cleaning routines, and safety protocols. - Collaborate with catering team to improve menu quality and student satisfaction. - Document and report any incidents or safety concerns to management. - Assist with training new kitchen staff as needed. **Required Skills** - Proven culinary craft and recipe development. - Ability to self‑manage workload and prioritize tasks. - Strong communication and teamwork skills. - High attention to detail and consistency in cooking and presentation. - Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, BRC). - Flexibility to work scheduled hours and occasional overtime. **Required Education & Certifications** - Minimum Level 2 Food Safety (or equivalent) qualification. - DBS disclosure required. - Experience in school or institutional catering highly desirable.
