Job Description
**Job Title:** Sales Engineer – Grid Automation **Role Summary:** Technical sales professional responsible for driving growth of grid automation solutions in the Benelux market. Acts as the primary technical liaison between utility/industrial customers and internal product, engineering, and project teams, managing the full sales cycle from lead qualification through quotation, tendering, and contract execution. **Expectations:** - Minimum 5 years experience in technical sales or engineering within grid/substation automation. - Proven ability to develop and present commercial proposals, conduct cost calculations, and navigate EU tender procedures. - Strong customer‑focused mindset with excellent communication, analytical, and account‑management skills. - Ability to work hybrid across Zaventem, Rotterdam, and remote locations, collaborating with global and local teams. - Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards and to continuous learning. **Key Responsibilities:** - Conduct regular customer meetings; provide status updates to stakeholders. - Translate technical inspection findings into detailed quotations and cost estimates. - Prepare and submit technical and financial offers, including new business, service contracts, and SLAs. - Lead lead qualification and follow‑up throughout the tendering process. - Research and align customer specifications with Hitachi Energy product portfolio. - Develop technical specifications, pricing models, and contract terms. - Utilize internal tools (Salesforce, tendering/configuration platforms) for opportunity tracking. - Support Account Managers with technical input during evaluation meetings. - Coordinate with factories and global Lead Centers to ensure pricing and delivery alignment. - Identify and assess supplier proposals for equipment and materials. - Maintain overall customer satisfaction and own post‑sale success activities. - Participate in required training and uphold safety and integrity standards. **Required Skills:** - Deep knowledge of substation automation, protection & control, and grid automation systems. - Familiarity with Hitachi Energy MicroSCADA, SLA management, and basic cyber‑security concepts. - Expertise in technical sales, tender preparation, EU procurement rules, and cost modeling. - Excellent written and verbal communication in English (additional Dutch/French a plus). - Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and negotiation abilities. - Proficiency with CRM/tender tools (e.g., Salesforce). - Ability to work cross‑functionally in a global matrix environment. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Energy Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience. - Relevant certifications (e.g., Sales Engineering, Project Management, Lean Six Sigma) are advantageous but not mandatory.
