Job Description
Job Title: Digital Forensics Analyst Role Summary: Conduct forensic acquisition, analysis, and reporting of digital evidence for criminal, civil, and internal investigations within an ISO 17025‑accredited environment. Maintain scientific integrity, manage a personal caseload, mentor junior analysts, and liaise with investigators, legal teams, and courts. Expectations: - Work independently, meeting turnaround and quality standards. - Uphold accreditation, procedural, and ethical requirements. - Obtain and maintain required security clearance (SC/NPPV). - Handle sensitive and potentially distressing material with professionalism. Key Responsibilities: 1. **Case Management** – Acquire, image, analyze, and interpret data from diverse devices; produce clear, defensible reports and statements for investigative and judicial use. 2. **Quality & Accreditation** – Follow ISO 17025 and FSR Code standards; participate in method validation, proficiency testing, equipment verification, and internal audits; maintain detailed, tamper‑proof case records. 3. **Tool Oversight** – Operate industry‑standard forensic tools (FTK Imager, Recon ITR, Cellebrite, MSAB, Magnet Forensics); support tool verification and process improvement. 4. **Leadership & Mentoring** – Guide trainee analysts, share knowledge, and contribute to a professional team culture. 5. **Stakeholder Communication** – Discuss requirements and findings with investigators and legal teams; provide expert witness statements and court testimony when required. 6. **Continuous Improvement** – Identify gaps, propose enhancements, and support senior staff in maintaining high standards. Required Skills: - Proficiency with digital forensic tools and techniques. - Strong organisational and workload‑planning abilities. - Clear, confident communication to non‑technical audiences. - Detail‑oriented quality focus and rigorous record‑keeping. - Ethical judgment, integrity, and discretion. - Ability to manage sensitive, distressing material. - Independent work habits and emotional resilience. Required Education & Certifications: - Degree in Digital Forensics, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field. - Knowledge of ISO 17025, FSR Code, ACPO Guidelines, and Criminal Justice System processes. - Security clearance (SC/NPPV) or ability to obtain within 30 days. - Experience in law enforcement or an accredited forensic laboratory. - Professional memberships (e.g., IACIS, ENFSI, UKFA) preferred.
