AIT Software Engineer
Job Description
Job Title: AIT Software Engineer Role Summary: Develop, test, and upgrade spacecraft flight software throughout its lifecycle, including requirement analysis, verification, and integration with hardware. Contribute to mission concepts, simulation, and proposal development in a small, high‑impact engineering team. Expectations: • Minimum 3 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree in STEM (or 1 year with a master’s). • Proven record in aerospace embedded software, from concept to deployment. • Ability to work independently with insatiable curiosity for learning. • US citizenship and eligibility for a DoD security clearance (Secret or higher desired). Key Responsibilities: • **Software Integration & Test (≈60%)** – Design and execute verification tests using satellite digital twin and HIL FlatSat; develop test tools; manage documentation, bug reporting, and official validation procedures. • **Flight Software Development (≈30%)** – Upgrade and create flight software for new missions; build in‑house performance analysis tools; conduct unit, module, subsystem, and platform‑level verification; support installation and anomaly resolution. • **Additional Support (≈10%)** – Participate in internal/external working groups, proposal writing, and assess software impacts of new hardware and mission concepts. Required Skills: • Proficient in C/C++ programming. • Embedded software development & testing. • Device driver development and software/hardware interface testing. • Real‑time operating systems programming, debugging, and testing. • Cybersecurity fundamentals and application. • Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) algorithm design, analysis, and testing. • Functional validation of embedded software on hardware. • Software safety assurance practices. • Network topology and configuration. • Numerical, emulator, and hardware‑in‑the‑loop simulation. • Software requirements management and configuration control. Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, Math) or related field. • Minimum of 3 years experience post‑bachelor’s (or 1 year post‑master’s). • US citizenship required. • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance (Secret or higher desirable).
