Job Description

Job title: Clinical Data Scientist Role Summary: A physician with clinical data expertise who designs, maintains, and validates the data platform used for real‑world evidence studies. Works cross‑functionally with engineering, machine learning, and partnership teams to ensure high‑quality, standardized data drives therapeutic discovery and patient outcome improvement. Expactations: - Deliver accurate data models and mapping for laboratory, medication, and diagnostic information. - Design and execute automated data quality checks and resolve data issues. - Translate clinical concepts into the common data model for RWE projects. - Collaborate on data specifications, research protocols, and partner communications. - Support data platform product development and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: - Maintain and enhance the data platform ingesting and standardising NHS, OMOP, and other clinical data. - Review incoming data quality, triage issues, and ensure compliance with RWE needs. - Lead effort to manage and evolve the common data model. - Map laboratory tests, medications, and clinical codes using BNF, ICD‑10, OPCS‑4, SNOMED, etc. - Design and uphold automated data quality review processes. - Develop data specifications for research projects with RWE and Data Strategy teams. - Provide informatics consultancy to partnership teams and external data partners. Required Skills: - Medical doctor (MBChB, MBBS, MD). - Advanced degree in data science, epidemiology, or informatics. - Clinical experience within the NHS (2+ years). - Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or R for exploratory data analysis. - Knowledge of NHS data structures (Cancer, OMOP, SACT, NHS Data Dictionary). - Familiarity with medical ontologies (ICD‑10, OPCS‑4, SNOMED). - Experience in informatics or epidemiologic research using EHR data. Required Education & Certifications: - MBChB/MBBS/MD medical degree. - Master’s or equivalent in data science, epidemiology, health informatics, or related field. - (Optional) Training or certification in Cerner/Epic systems.
