Demand Planner - Food
Job Description
Job title: Demand Planner – Food Role summary: Lead end‑to‑end demand planning for a fast‑growing chilled food manufacturer, translating commercial input into a unified plan that drives service, cost, capacity and waste performance. Expectations: * Own a single, evidence‑based forecast for all SKUs and channels * Challenge assumptions, resolve conflicts and influence senior decision‑makers * Shape and mature the S&OP process, embedding best practices across commercial, operations, finance and retail partners * Deliver measurable improvements in service and efficiency while maintaining quality and sustainability Key responsibilities: * Develop rolling demand forecasts for all SKUs and retailers * Reconcile commercial inputs into a single aligned forecast * Identify and resolve demand conflicts using data‑driven insights * Translate demand into actionable production, supply and capacity plans within short shelf‑life constraints * Manage material requirements planning for ingredients and packaging * Lead the S&OP cadence, presenting trade‑offs and recommendations to senior leadership * Act as the interface between Commercial, Operations, Finance and key retail customers Required skills: * 3+ years demand, supply or production planning in FMCG/food manufacturing * Advanced Excel and planning tools (e.g., SAP APO, Oracle, JDA, etc.) * Practical experience with MRP/ERP systems * Strong analytical capability and structured decision‑making * Commercial awareness and ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders * Experience interacting with major UK retailers (customer‑facing/planning) * Knowledge of short shelf‑life or high‑care environments * S&OP ownership or facilitation experience preferred Required education & certifications: * Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business Administration, Food Science or related field * Professional certification such as APICS CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent is advantageous.
