Job Description: **Job Title:** Back‑End Developer – PHP/Symfony **Role Summary:** Design, develop, and maintain the back‑end components of a mission‑critical business application for a nonprofit organization. Build RESTful APIs, ensure code quality through testing, and support continuous improvement of development practices while collaborating with front‑end and business teams. **Expectations:** - Deliver high‑quality, maintainable PHP/Symfony code. - Produce clear technical documentation. - Resolve application incidents promptly. - Mentor junior developers and share knowledge. - Participate in code reviews, version control, and CI/CD processes. **Key Responsibilities:** - Develop new back‑end features and enhancements in PHP using Symfony. - Design and implement REST APIs and web services. - Write unit and integration tests; ensure test coverage. - Perform corrective and evolutionary maintenance of the application. - Document architecture, APIs, and operational procedures. - Diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix production incidents. - Collaborate with external front‑end teams and internal business stakeholders for seamless integration. - Contribute to the definition and adoption of best‑practice development standards. **Required Skills:** - Strong experience with PHP and Symfony framework. - Proficient in SQL and relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL). - Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs. - Familiarity with Git (GitLab) and CI/CD pipelines. - Comfortable working in Linux environments (shell commands, file management). - Ability to manage development cycles, releases, and testing phases. - Excellent written communication for technical documentation. - Preferred: Docker fundamentals; basic front‑end knowledge (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Twig, Symfony UX, React.js or Vue.js). **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). - No specific certifications required; demonstrable experience with the above technologies is essential.
