Job Description
**Job Title** Data Protection Advisor/Junior Consultant **Role Summary** Provide high‑quality data protection advice to clients, manage moderate complexity queries and projects, and support senior consultants in training, compliance monitoring, and regulatory liaison. Operate autonomously with minimal supervision while contributing to continuous process improvement. **Expectations** - Lead engagements for small client organisations and serve as deputy client lead for medium‑sized clients. - Deliver results with little oversight, prioritising autonomy and efficiency. - Proactively seek opportunities to enhance operational processes and client service quality. - Maintain professional reputation and uphold company standards at all times. **Key Responsibilities** - Deliver consistent guidance on data protection, information law, and intellectual property issues. - Support consultants in training programmes and stakeholder communication. - Address internal and external data protection queries and complaints. - Identify and fulfil team needs; delegate tasks to junior staff and review their work. - Participate in recruitment activities, including candidate screening and panel interview assistance. - Ensure client compliance with DPA 2018, GDPR, PECR, Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, and emerging regulations. - Lead data protection initiatives, including Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs). - Serve as point of contact for regulators and third‑party data protection inquiries. - Manage personal data breaches and coordinate incident response. - Assist in training delivery and development of client data protection training materials. - Review and negotiate client contracts and monitor third‑party governance risks. **Required Skills** - Strong knowledge of data protection and information governance frameworks. - Experience managing moderate‑complexity client queries and projects. - Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. - Capacity to work independently and manage time effectively. - Analytical skills for risk assessment, DPIAs, and breach management. - Leadership skills, including delegation and mentoring of junior team members. - Familiarity with training design and delivery. **Required Education & Certifications** - Undergraduate degree (2.1 or higher), preferably in law, data protection, or a related field. - Master’s degree preferred. - CIPP/E or equivalent credential preferred. - Minimum of 3 years experience in data protection (healthcare experience an advantage).
