Job Description
Job Title: Head of NPD, Innovation & Category Development Role Summary: Lead end-to-end product innovation, category strategy, and physical product roadmap for food and packaging, ensuring market leadership and scalability. Bridge cross-functional teams (marketing, operations, nutrition) to drive revenue-generating solutions. Expectations: Senior commercial leader with 7+ years NPD/EPD/category management experience (food preferred but not required). Proven cross-functional project management, strategic thinking, and team leadership skills required. Hybrid work model (2–4 days/week in London/Essex). Key Responsibilities: - Define and execute product/category strategies for meals, premium tiers, and functional nutrition ranges. - Oversee NPD/EPD pipeline from insight gathering to launch, including trials, scale-up, and post-launch analysis. - Optimize menu architecture, SKU count, and selection algorithms to balance variety, operational efficiency, and innovation. - Drive physical product innovation (packaging, unboxing experience, merchandise) to enhance customer engagement and profitability. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align product principles with brand strategy and financial goals. Required Skills: - Strategic product development with data-driven decision-making (qualitative/quantitative insights). - Strong financial acumen for margin optimization and margin analysis. - Proven expertise in cross-functional project management and stakeholder alignment. - Leadership of small teams and ability to prioritize commercial outcomes. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in business, food science, or related field. - Certifications in product innovation or category management are advantageous but not mandatory.
