Job Description
**Job Title** Head of Credit Risk **Role Summary** Lead the development and optimisation of credit strategy for a new consumer credit card launch. Own end‑to‑end credit decisioning, policy, pricing, and portfolio performance, driving data‑driven decisions that balance growth, risk, and responsible lending. Act as the primary credit risk expert, collaborate cross‑functionally, and mentor new team members in a fast‑growing fintech. **Expactations** - Deliver a robust, data‑driven credit strategy from launch through growth stages. - Translate analytical insights into commercial actions that align with senior leadership objectives. - Maintain proactive, responsive risk models in a changing macro‑environment. - Provide leadership and mentorship while contributing hands‑on to business operations. **Key Responsibilities** - Design, implement, and optimise credit card scorecards and policies, leveraging alternative data (e.g., Open Banking). - Develop and manage pricing, NPV, and lifetime‑value models; present findings and recommendations to senior leadership. - Monitor portfolio performance: loss rates, risk‑adjusted income, affordability metrics; recommend strategy adjustments. - Build dashboards, reporting tools, and regular updates for credit committees and stakeholders. - Forecast customer behaviour and demand using advanced statistical techniques; support scenario analysis. - Ensure compliance with UK consumer credit regulations and responsible lending standards. - Collaborate with product, technology, data science, and finance teams to embed credit thinking throughout the customer journey. **Required Skills** - Proven experience in consumer credit risk analysis, preferably credit cards or unsecured products. - Expertise in credit scorecard design, deployment, and policy management, including affordability assessment. - Advanced proficiency in SQL and/or Python for data manipulation, analysis, and model development. - Strong background in NPV, lifetime‑value, and pricing optimisation modeling. - Ability to integrate alternative data sources (e.g., Open Banking) into credit decision frameworks. - Experience monitoring portfolio performance, trend analysis, and actionable strategy change. - Knowledge of UK consumer credit regulations and responsible lending practices. - Excellent communication, stakeholder influence, and cross‑functional collaboration. - Structured, analytical, and commercially curious mindset with adaptability to fast‑paced environments. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field. - Professional credit or risk qualification (e.g., FRM, PRM, or equivalent) highly preferred.
