Job Description

**Job Title:** Optical/Photonics Engineer Internship – Multicore Fiber Transmission Characterization **Role Summary:** A 6‑month internship focused on simulating and experimentally characterizing the transmission performance of next‑generation multicore optical fibers for telecom networks. **Expectations:** - Master’s (or equivalent) student in Photonics Engineering or related field. - Strong theoretical understanding of guided optics, nonlinear photonics, and digital communications. - Ability to independently conduct literature reviews, model development, and bench experiments. - Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python for simulation and data analysis. **Key Responsibilities:** - Learn and apply optical performance simulation tools to telecom links. - Adapt existing single‑core fiber models to multicore configurations. - Design, assemble, and calibrate a measurement bench for multicore fiber transmission tests. - Conduct experimental measurements, process data, and validate simulation results. - Analyze scientific papers and emerging technologies to support model refinement. **Required Skills:** - Guided and nonlinear optics fundamentals. - Digital communications concepts (modulation formats, channel capacity). - Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python. - Experimental design and data acquisition. - Autonomous work, critical analysis, and scientific writing. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Current Master’s or Bachelor +5 level in Photonics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. - Coursework in optical communications, fiber optics, and nonlinear photonics recommended.
