Job Description

Job Title: Technical Leader – Backend Role Summary: Lead the backend development team, setting architectural standards, guiding design, and ensuring secure, high‑performance services. Collaborate with the Solution Architect and product teams to translate vision into scalable, maintainable code. Expectations: Deliver quality backend solutions that meet product timelines, mentor the engineering crew, and drive continuous improvement in technology adoption and process efficiency. Key Responsibilities: - Architect system components, interfaces, and database schemas; align with Solution Architect’s vision. - Lead detailed technical design, define test cases, and assess low‑level risks. - Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and spearhead refactoring initiatives. - Implement OWASP security controls and define testing strategy for adequate coverage. - Mentor team on design patterns, best practices, and architectural principles. - Manage CI/CD pipelines, branching strategies, and feature flag workflow. - Set up instrumentation (metrics, logs, dashboards) and oversee incident RCA. - Balance technical debt with feature delivery, justify prioritisation decisions. - Stay current on emerging tools/frameworks that enhance architecture and performance. Required Skills: - 10+ years of programming/architecting experience. - Expertise in building distributed cloud applications. - Proficient with Java, Spring; experience in Node.js, React, AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis. - Strong architectural and problem‑solving skills. - Bilingual in English and French. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
