Software Engineer
Job Description
Job title: Software Engineer Role Summary: Contract developer focused on building, maintaining, and modernising Windows desktop applications using C# and WPF. Works across design, optimisation, and production tools, delivering clean, maintainable code and collaborating closely with stakeholders to shape product evolution. Expectations: • 3–6 month contract • Daily rate £300‑£500 (outside IR35) • Independent delivery in a dynamic, change‑able environment Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and support C#/.NET desktop applications (WPF). • Investigate, troubleshoot, and document software defects. • Participate in code reviews, technical documentation, and knowledge sharing. • Modernise legacy systems using current technologies and best practices. • Translate stakeholder requirements into clear technical specifications. • Propose and implement improvements to existing products and future development. Required Skills: • Strong commercial experience with C#/.NET Core and .NET Framework. • Proven WPF user‑interface development expertise. • MS SQL Server database knowledge. • Solid analytical or mathematical background. • Good testing practices and a focus on quality. • Self‑motivated, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement. Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (preferred). • No mandatory industry certifications; Microsoft .NET or WPF certifications are a plus.
